A 6-year-old Carroll boy drowned at the Glidden Aquatic Center Saturday.

The incident was reported to emergency responders about 5:20 p.m., Carroll County Sheriff Ken Pingrey said in a press release. He identified the boy as Kadyn Sporrer.

Pool personnel, paramedics and law-enforcement officers performed CPR on the boy, who was transported to St. Anthony Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

No further information about the incident was immediately available.

Sporrer was a kindergarten student at Fairview Elementary this past school year. Guidance counselors are available to students and parents from 9 to 11 a.m. today in the school’s media center.

“Please keep Kadyn’s family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time,” a school district email said.

The aquatic center will reopen today at 1 p.m., but it will be closed Friday out of respect for the family, Glidden City Clerk Suzanne Danner said. Sporrer’s funeral is set to start that day at 10:30 a.m. at Central Church, just east of Carroll.

Visitations are scheduled from 4 to 7 p.m. at the church Thursday and 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Friday. A prayer service is set for 7 p.m. Thursday.
