Alvin H. Underberg, 89 of Rocky Mount, Mo., died Thursday morning July 19, 2012, at Eldon Nursing & Rehab in Eldon, Mo.  

Visitation was 9 to 11 a.m. and funeral Mass was at 11 a.m. Monday, July 23, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Eldon, Mo.

Monsignor Donald Lammers officiated the ceremony.

Burial followed at Eldon City Cemetary.

Memorials for Alvin are suggested to Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Eldon.

Arrangements are under the direction of Phillips Funeral Home of Eldon.

On July 21, 1922 he was born in Carroll, Iowa, a son of the late Alois and Margaret (Nees) Underberg.  On Oct. 26, 1948 he was married in Carroll, to Mardel (Beyerink) Underberg who survives of the home.

Alvin volunteered his time and talent to Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he was a member for over 20 years.  He served in the U.S. Navy for four years. He was employed with Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Des Moines, Iowa, for over 30 years.   

Survivors include son, Neal J. Underberg of Kansas City, daughter, Amy Skuce of Dublin, Ohio, three grandchildren, Cameron, Samantha and Sandon and Sisters Marion Rich of Glidden and Ethel Sullivan of Ottumwa.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Williams.
