Arleen Neu, 75 of Pleasanton, Calif. and formerly of the Carroll and Templeton area, died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012, at her residence.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 26, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Templeton. Celebrant will be Father Steve Brodersen.  Music will be by Jeanne Kerkhoff and the Sacred Heart Men’s Choir.  Lectors will be Robert Klocke and Matthew DeMey.  

Gift bearers will be: Debra Romey and James Klocke. Eucharistic minister will be Karen Klocke. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Templeton.

Friends may call at Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25. There will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. Memorials may be left at the funeral home or the church for the American Cancer Society or Hope Hospice of Dublin, Calif.

Born Dec. 25, 1936, in Carroll, Arleen was a daughter of Raymond and Alma (Tigges) Klocke.  She attended school in Templeton and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1955.  

On May 29, 1956, she married her high school sweetheart and soul mate LaVern Neu. Shortly after their marriage they moved to California where they raised their family of five children.  

Arleen loved reading, learning, flowers, birds and was an avid fan of the San Jose Sharks hockey team. Arleen was a member of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Pleasanton.

Arleen is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, LaVern Neu of Pleasanton; her children: Sharon (David) Amaya of Pleasanton, Nancy Lober of Monterey, Calif., Kevin (Tabitha) Neu of Scotts Valley, Calif., Rhonda (Mike) Courtemanche of Oakley, Calif., and Brian Neu of Pleasanton; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; her mother, Alma Klocke of Carroll; her sisters: Marilyn (Dan) Ferlic of White Bear Lake, Minn., Pat (Bill) Tucker of Santa Cruz, Calif., Jan (Ron) Eich of Carroll, and Deb (Dave) Romey of Ankeny; her brothers: Jim Klocke of Coon Rapids, and Bob (Carol) Klocke of Mason City; her in-laws: Joleen Klocke of Carroll, Vivian Hulsing of Glidden, Mae Wuebker of Arcadia, Pat (Darrell) Berg of San Jose, Calif., Jerome (Donna Mae) Neu of Santa Clara, Calif., Earl (Jean) Neu of Carroll, William (Jackie) Neu of San Jose, Calif., and Kenneth Neu of Oakley, Calif.; several nieces and nephews as well as other extended relatives and many friends.

Arleen was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Klocke; her grandson, Kevin Jason Neu; her brother, Ray Klocke; her son-in-law, Tom Lober; her parents-in-law, Peter and Frances Neu; and her brothers-in-law: Marvin Neu, Norbert Hulsing, and Paul Wuebker.
