Ann Rath, 90, of Carroll, died Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at Regency Park Nursing Home in Carroll.
Mass of the Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 22, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll. The celebrant will be Father Timothy Schott. Music will be by Marcy Anderson and the St. Lawrence choir with Jean Knobbe as cantor. Lector will be Jill Rath. Gift bearers will be Ann's great-grandchildren Krysten Rath, Jake Rath and Jenny Rath. Honorary casket bearers will be Shelly Mohler, Robin Hinz, Tammy Zimmermann and Heidi Pudenz. Casket bearers will be Mike Rath, Jon Rath, Ryan Rath, Marty Rath, Terry Rath and Harry Mohler. Burial will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Holy Family Cemetery near Lidderdale.
Friends may call after 4:30 p.m. Friday at Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll, where there will be a rosary at 5 p.m. and a Christian wake service at 6:30 p.m.

Born Aug. 20, 1923, in Carroll County, Iowa, Ann was a daughter of Theodore and Catherine (Hoffman) Gehling. She attended Sts. Peter and Paul School in Carroll. On Jan. 12, 1943, she married Herman Rath at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Carroll. Ann was a devoted homemaker and farm wife, being actively engaged with Herman in their grain and livestock operation. She enjoyed the outdoors, animals and tending to her great garden. Ann also enjoyed sewing, embroidering, and crocheting. Ann liked to socialize, play cards, and was always known for having coffee and cake for whoever would stop by to visit. Above all, Ann will be remembered for being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.
Ann is survived by her children: Mary Ann Ott of Superior, Neb., and Jim Rath and his wife Marlene of Glidden; 10 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; her siblings: John (Marge) Gehling of Atlantic, Freda Barron of Niles, Mich., and Lucille Jackley of Sun City Center, Fla.; her in-laws: Irma Gehling of Carroll, Norma Jean Gehling of Carroll, and Donna Gehling of Carroll, as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Herman on Dec. 27, 2006; a son Robert Rath; son-in-law Larry Ott; her siblings: Marie Von Eschen, Frank Gehling, Leonard Gehling, Vincent Gehling, Helen Gray and Leo Gehling.
