Arlene H. Thorup, 92, died Wednesday, May 1, 2013 in Canon City, Colo.
She was born Jan. 29, 1921, in Carroll, Iowa, to Herman and Gertrude (Wolterman) Hamers.
Arlene was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. She was married to Alfred Thorup; he preceded her in death in 2008. He was Carroll County sheriff for 13 years.
Arlene enjoyed cooking, baking, walking, gardening, playing bridge and working crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed traveling, camping and spending time with her family.
Arlene is survived by her children, Dale Kim Thorup, Gail Dawn Thorup-Danner, and Deborah Kay Thorup-Marsicano; grandchildren, Jason (Khoury) Danner, Chelsea Thorup, Ben (Brittany) Marsicano, and Nick (JoJo) Marsicano; and six great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by sons, David Allen Thorup and Chris Dean Thorup; six sisters; and five brothers.
At her request, no services will be held. Her cremains will be inurned beside her husband at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colo.
