Bernice Sievers, 87, died Friday, Jan. 24, 2014, at Shady Oaks Care Center in Lake City.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, at Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Lake City with the Rev. Craig Zandi officiating, and burial will be at Oaklawn Cemetery in Auburn.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 27, at Pilgrim Lutheran Church.

Lampe Funeral Home in Lake City is handling the arrangements.

Memorials may be left to Zion Lutheran Church in Auburn or Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Lake City.

Bernice Joann Sievers was born Aug. 25, 1926, in Carroll to Paul and Angie (Johnson) Freese. On Sept. 4, 1947, she married Lester Sievers at the Wheatland Presbyterian Church, rural Breda. Bernice worked as a homemaker and cleaned and ironed for many families in the surrounding areas. She enjoyed quilting, playing cards with the six ladies, working with flowers, and feeding the squirrels. Bernice was a member of the Ladies Aid of Pilgrim and Zion and Cover Girls Quilting.

Bernice is survived by her children Kristy (Harold) Hare of Lake City, Rick (Sue) Sievers of Auburn, Jeff (Lori) Sievers of Lake City, Paul Sievers of Carroll and Lori (Jim) Brown of Bennington, Neb.; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lester in 1982, son Craig in 1954, daughter-in-law Candy Sievers in 2005, and sister Angie Schwarzkopf in 2013.
