Brett Nissen, 36, of Carroll, died Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital.

Funeral was April 26 in Manson at St. Paul Lutheran Church with burial at Rose Hill Cemetery in Manson.

Brett David Nissen was born May 24, 1976, in Lake City. He attended Cooper School in Fort Dodge for three years before attending school in Manson where he graduated in 1996.

Brett moved to New Hope Village in Carroll where he lived in a cottage, then moved to a community home where he lived for many years.

Brett enjoyed watching sports (especially football, volleyball and basketball), going to the movies, bowling, fishing and taking pictures at events. Brett was an avid Iowa State Cyclone fan and loved watching the Super Bowl.

He participated in the softball throw at the Special Olympics for many years bringing home many ribbons.

He was always proud of his hometown Manson Northwest Webster Cougars. Brett liked country western music best especially Garth Brooks, and his favorite TV show was the "Dukes of Hazzard."

Brett had many friends in Carroll whom he always offered a hug and a smile when he saw them.

Brett is survived by his parents, David and Laurie Nissen of Manson; sister Traci (Chad) Tracey and his niece Chloe of Otho; grandparent Bentley and Marliss Nissen of Manson; aunts, uncles and cousins.

Brett was preceded in death by his grandmother Shirley Dirks, grandfather Lee Uballe and his aunt Cheryl Reed.
