Cedella was born Oct. 24, 1930, at Mount Carmel, Iowa, a daughter of Frank and Julia (Bruning) Stangl. She grew up in Mount Carmel where she attended Our Lady of Mount Carmel grade school and then graduated from Carroll High School in 1948.
On Nov. 16, 1950, Cedella married Arnold "Arnie" J. Danzer, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church with the Rev. Father Peter Sturm officiating. They farmed 1 mile south of the Carroll Airport where they raised their seven children. In 1993, after 43 years of farming, they retired and moved to an acreage near Carroll. Cedella was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, Parish Ladies Guild and the Carroll Catholic Daughters of the Americas.
She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Some of her favorite activities included socializing with family and friends, attending dances with Arnie, sewing, knitting and quilting. She also enjoyed collecting owls, and tending to her rose bushes and flowers. All of her children and grandchildren savored her homemade banana-chocolate chip cookies. Over the years, as her grandchildren grew to young adults, she lovingly created a custom-made quilt for each of them for their graduation. She also created numerous quilt-patch rugs for family and friends. She always had a new project in process.
Cedella and Arnie celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in August 2000, at the Holy Spirit Parish in the Bishop Greteman Center, hosted by their children and grandchildren.
Cedella is survived by her children, Gary (Karen) Danzer of St. Charles, Ill., Sharon (Clay) Brinker of West Des Moines, Lynn Danzer of Council Bluffs, Michele (Keith) Sporrer of Templeton, Marty (Lisa) Danzer of Carroll, Lisa Danzer and (Hank Schlapkohl) of Dallas, Texas, and Jeff (Kim) Danzer of Cedar Rapids; 22 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sisters, Eunice Reising of Breda, and Marilyn (Denny) Berg of Arcadia; brothers Merle Stangl of Atlantic; and Warren (Laura) Stangl of Claremont, Minn.; sisters-in-law Margaret Stangl of Osage, Arlene Stangl of Coon Rapids, Audrey Weitl of Carroll and Joan Danzer of Carroll; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arnold in April 2008; three sisters: Alma (Andy) Mattes, Elaine (Ray) Schmitz, Lorraine (Ray) Weitl; four brothers Kenneth (Margaret) Stangl, Vernon (Rita) Stangl, Glenn Stangl and Gaylord Stangl; sister-in-law, Phyllis Stangl; and brothers-in-law: Wilfrid Reising, Edmund Danzer and Floyd Weitl.
