Charles Eugene McGrail, 85, died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013, at Stewart Memorial Community Hospital in Lake City.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Lake City Union Church in Lake City with the Rev. Beth Harbaugh officiating.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Lampe Funeral Home in Lake City with a prayer service at 7 p.m. A private family burial will be held.

Gene was born May 12, 1928, at Rockwell City, Iowa, to Clarence and Neva (Murphy) McGrail. He served in the U.S. Air Force for four years during the Korean War.
On May 16, 1948, he married Ardeth Lottman at Jolley Methodist Church in Jolley. He worked as a farmer all his career until retiring in 1989. Gene was a member of Lake City Union Church.
Gene is survived by his daughters Kim (Duane) Handlos of Carroll and Pat (Bill) Higgins of Lake City, four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and sister Betty Habhab of Fort Dodge.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Ardeth, an infant daughter Pamela Jean McGrail, and brother Robert McGrail.
