Dennis was born to Charles “Chick” and Edna “Iola” (Patterson) Metzger on Dec. 31, 1945.

He attended East Greene School at Grand Junction, graduating in 1964.

He served in the National Guard from 1963-1968.

In 1967, he married Linda Kunce. To this union they had two daughters Gina and Kari.

Over the years Dennis logged many miles driving semi for various companies.

He made many lifelong friends over the road. In the truck he was sure to be listening to a game of some sort on the radio. He loved baseball and kept up on his Chicago Cubs. He also followed the Nebraska Cornhuskers and always kept his pride in his East Greene Hawks.

When off the road you were sure to find him playing a game of pinochle with some of his hometown friends (even though he claims they all cheated), watching a sporting event, or just catching up with friends. He also enjoyed his days on the golf course and playing and singing along at his organ.

Dennis is survived by his daughters Gina (Steve) Chapman of Treynor and Kari Hunter of Glidden; his grandchildren Nolan, Kayla, Kaitlin, Karlee and Wade; his sister-in-laws Joyce Metzger of Gaffney S.C., and Chris Metzger of Fort Dodge; nieces, nephew and cousins; and his longtime friend of many years Bud Fagen.

He was preceded in death by his parents Charles in 1983 and Iola in 2009; his brothers Ivan in 2002 and Wayne in 2007; and also his longtime friend Denny Smith in 2011.
