Dorothy Brown, 87, formerly of Lytton, died Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013, at Friendship Haven in Fort Dodge.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, at Lampe Funeral Home in Lake City with burial in the Lake City Cemetery. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Dorothy was born June 11, 1926, in Elm Grove Township north of Lake City to Floyd and Mary (Carlson) Carmean. She attended eight years of country school and then Lake City High School where she graduated as valedictorian in 1943. She worked in the Lake City State Bank for a year and a half before entering the University of Iowa for business administration with an accounting major. While there she met Robert Brown, and they married in August 1947. They made their home in What Cheer, Iowa, and their children Richard and Christine were born there. In 1959 the family moved to a farm east of Lytton. She then worked for 20 years as the office manager of the Lytton Co-op Creamery, which later became Associated Milk Producers Inc. After they retired they moved to a town home in Friendship Haven in Fort Dodge in 1997.

Dorothy was a Past Matron of Eastern Star, a 50-year member of PEO, Legion Auxiliary member, and did volunteer work at Friendship Haven.

Surviving are her children Richard of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Christine of Arlington, Va.

She was preceded in death by her husband in March 2010, and her parents.
