Dr. Elizabeth Corwin Jones Snyder

Dr. Elizabeth "Betty" Corwin Jones Snyder, died Friday, Nov. 29, 2013, surrounded by family.
She is survived by three Jones children, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren plus four Snyder children, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Betty was an accomplished wife, mother, stepmother, nurse, educator, politician and social activist. She received her BSN from Texas Christian University, her MSN from the University of Texas, and her Ph.D. from Southeastern University. Betty was the founding dean at the University of Texas School of Nursing in Houston. Later in life she was elected to three terms as mayor of Clinton, Iowa. She was active in PEO Chapter HV in Iowa and Chapter AZ in Austin.
Her husband Tindall P. Jones preceded her in death in 1991. Dr. William C. Snyder, her childhood sweetheart and later in life husband died in 1993.
A service in celebration of Betty's life will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, at Hope Presbyterian Church, Austin, Texas.
