Duane Wright, 77, of Scranton, Iowa, died unexpectedly at his home on Monday, June 3, 2013.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 7, at Carroll Church of Christ with Pastor Kyle Dana and Pastor Don Hensley officiating.

Friends may call at Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Scranton from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday. The casket will be moved to the church at 8:30 a.m. when visitation will resume. Pianist for the service will be Kimberly Tiefenthaler, and soloist will be Alice Drake. Casket bearers will be Bill Wenger, Denton Wenger, Scott Hansen, Jim McDonald, Steve Olberding, Jerry Janson, Garry Hutchinson and Don Woerdehoff. Honorary casket bearers will be Otis Henning, Larry Frazier, Don Hiddleson and Dick Finch.

Burial will be at Dillavou Cemetery near Scranton.

Born April 2, 1936, at the home of his grandparents at Gray, Iowa, he was a son of William and Lois (Horning) Wright. Duane grew up on his family's farm north of Scranton on Horseshoe Bend where he lived his entire life. He attended country school until fourth grade and graduated from Scranton High School in 1954. He married Sharen Haburn on Jan. 29, 1961, at the Christian Church in Worthington, Minn. Duane was a lifelong farmer and had a strong faith in God and his savior Jesus Christ. He loved and was dearly loved by his family. He spent a great deal of time traveling to various activities for his children and grandchildren. Family was his pride and joy. Duane was an avid farmer until his retirement in 2002. He was a member of the Carroll Church of Christ where he served many years as a deacon, elder and Sunday school teacher. He served on the Scranton School Board, the Midland Power REC board, the FHA board, and he worked for ASCS in the winters measuring land and grain bins for many years.

Duane is survived by his wife, Sharen, of Scranton; a daughter Janelle Koch and her husband Mike of Forest City, Iowa; two sons: Roger Wright and his wife Char of Manchester, Iowa, and David Wright and his wife Kristen of Bellevue, Iowa; nine grandchildren: Marissa and Kyle Wright of Manchester, Iowa, Nathan, Rachel, Emily and Kelsey Koch of Forest City, and Allison, Bill and Jack Wright of Bellevue; two brothers: Henry Wright of Lisbon, Iowa, and Eldon Wright and his wife Sharon of Scranton; and three sisters-in-law: Beth Hatch and her husband, Bob, Joan Haburn of Cherokee and Diane Haburn of Webster City.

Duane was preceded in death by his parents, his mother- and father-in-law, an infant brother, three sisters-in-law and four brothers-in-law.
