Evelyn Kropf, 81, of Breda, died Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll. She was surrounded by her loving and caring children and families at the time of her death.
Mass of the Christian burial was at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 3, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breda. Celebrant will be Father Gary Snyder. Music will be by Marilyn Hundling and the St. Bernard choir. Lectors will be Wayne Brincks and Pat Lenaghan. Gift bearers will be Stacy Eischeid, Katie Zelle, Heather Keenan and Evie's great-grandchildren. Eucharistic minister will be Art Reiff. Honorary casket bearers will be Evie's Coffee Card Club. Casket bearers will be grandsons Thomas Kropf, Joe Steinkamp, Jeff Steinkamp, Jon Steinkamp, John Brincks, and Ross Wiederin. Burial will be at the parish cemetery.

Born April 27, 1932 at Breda, Iowa, Evelyn was a daughter of Anthony and Evelyn (Goecke) Wilberding. She graduated from St. Bernard High School. On Dec. 27, 1951 she married Lonnie Kropf at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breda. After her marriage Evie worked for the Breda Telephone Company for many years until her retirement in 2002. Evie enjoyed dancing, especially with her husband Lonnie, playing cards - having belonged to the same card club for over 50 years - and shopping. She dedicated her life to her family. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Evie was a member of the Breda American Legion Auxiliary, St. Bernard Parish and Ladies Guild.
Evie is survived by her children: Gary Kropf and his fiancée Pat Lenaghan of Omaha, Neb., Mary Brincks and her husband Wayne of Lake View, Lori Steinkamp and her husband Mike of Breda, and Lynne Wiederin and her husband Pat of Carroll; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; siblings: Alice O'Brien of Carroll, Ed Wilberding of Lincoln, Neb., Myrna Niewohner of Fremont, Neb., Larry Wilberding and wife Diane of Plantation, Fla., Merle Wilberding of Dayton, Ohio, and Shirley (Bill) Jennewein of Yankton, S.D.; and her in-laws: Peggy Wilberding of Carroll, Art Reiff of Lidderdale, and Dennis Kropf of Manning, S.C.; as well as other extended relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lonnie, daughter-in-law Suzanne Kropf, and siblings Don Wilberding and Marilyn Reiff.
