Florence Bromert, 90, of Carroll, died Monday, April 15, 2013, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll.

Mass of the Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday. April 18, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll. Celebrant will be Father Timothy Schott.

Music will be provided by Marcy Anderson, the St. Lawrence choir, RSVP singalong group; Jake Gute as song leader, and John Wagner will sing a solo. Lectors will be Heidi Bromert and Ann Bromert. Gift bearers will be Florence's great-grandchildren. Eucharistic ministers will be Jeff Hagedorn, Ann Christiansen and Jean Knobbe.

Honorary casket bearers will be Chantelle O'Connell, Nicole Hagedorn, Rae Ann Taylor and Karen Bromert. Casket bearers will be Nicholas Bromert, Jason Hagedorn, Jeff Hagedorn, Lance Bromert, Justin Bromert and Jennifer Hagedorn. The RSVP singalong group will form an honor guard for the Mass.

Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.

Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 3:30 p.m. Wednesday. There will be a rosary at 4 p.m. and a Christian wake service at 6 p.m. by St. Lawrence Parish.

The casket will be moved to St. Lawrence Church at 8:30 a.m. Thursday when visitation will resume.

Born May 6, 1922, at Carroll, Florence Marie was a daughter of Joseph and Minnie (Korwes) Jenson.

She attended Sts. Peter and Paul School in Carroll, St. Joseph School in Dedham and later graduated from St. Angela Academy in 1939.

Florence was active in school and church choirs and also the Carroll Civic Orchestra and Carroll Community Chorus.

On many occasions she was a vocalist and instrumentalist at weddings and other special events and was also active in several community theater plays. Following her graduation she attended Tri State Business College at Sioux City and then returned to Carroll where she worked at the ASC office and later joined the Carroll County Auditor's Office as a clerk.

On Sept. 12, 1944 Florence was married to Kenneth Bromert at Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Carroll by Father Lambert Schenkelberg. Following their marriage they moved to the family farm where she assisted her husband on the farm and raised their three children.

In 1996 they moved to their home in Carroll. Being active in the Elks Club, Florence was named Queen of the Elks Club in 1986 at their Charity Ball. She also did volunteer work for the RSVP group and was a member of the singalong group that went to nursing homes, and local towns every week.

Florence was a member of St. Lawrence Parish where she was active in the Ladies Guild and the St. Lawrence choir for over 40 years.

She enjoyed gardening and had a deep devotion to her family, her friends and her faith.

Survivors include her children: Dick Bromert and wife Rona of Vail, David Bromert and wife Polly of Liberty, Mo., and Deann Hagedorn and husband Mark of Cameron, Wis.; her grandchildren: Justin (Ann) Bromert, Lance (Heidi) Bromert, Nicholas Bromert and fiancé Rae Ann Taylor, Chantelle (Joe) O'Connell, Jason (Nicole) Hagedorn, Jeffrey Hagedorn and Jennifer Hagedorn; her granddaughter-in-law, Karen Bromert; her great-grandchildren: Kallie Bromert, Karson Bromert, Racina Hagedorn, Colton Hagedorn, Mataya Bromert, Jace Bromert, Keeley O'Connell, Shea O'Connell, and Patrick O'Connell; her sister-in-law, Norma Bromert of Carroll; as well as nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.

Florence was preceded in death by her parents; husband Kenneth in 2004; grandson Andrew Bromert; her brothers: Clarence Jenson, and Louis (Evelyn) Jenson; and her in-laws, Art and Ruth Snyder.
