Francis "Frank" Talk

Francis "Frank" Duane Talk, 56, of Auburn, Iowa, died at his home on Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013.
Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Aug, 16, at Immanuel Presbyterian Church in Carnarvon. Burial will be at the Carnarvon Cemetery with military graveside rites by American Legion Chalon Post 262 of Wall Lake. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Wall Lake.
Frank was born in Browning, Mont., on June 4, 1957, to Raymond and Lowene Madeline (Cron) Talk. The family moved to Iowa in 1961 and in 1966 moved to Wall Lake where Frank graduated from Wall Lake High School with the Class of 1977.
Following high school, Frank enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served as a culinary chef on a submarine. After serving in the Navy, Frank cooked at various restaurants including Frozen Frontier, Lakewood Ballroom and the Carnarvon Inn, and also worked as a farmhand and caregiver until his health forced him to retire.
He loved to collect military memorabilia and could fix almost anything. He was a member of Immanuel Presbyterian Church in Carnarvon.
Survivors include his daughter Shyann Lappe of Templeton, Iowa; his two sons; his siblings: John (Barb) Ratcliffe of Des Moines, Lester (Jan) Dobernecker of Texas, Bob (Pam) Dobernecker of Davenport, Gary (Shirley) Dobernecker of Arizona, Diane Gibson of Colorado, Donald (Kris) Conroy of Ankeny, William "Bill" Talk, who is a civilian contractor for the Army overseas, Michael Talk of Davenport, Robert (friend Amy) Talk of Carnarvon, Roger Dobernecker of Carnarvon, Lowell Taylor of Glenwood, and Tracy German of Des Moines; uncle Lloyd Cron of Griswold, and aunt Jo (Roger) Steele of Anita; Brooke (Marisa) Davies of Sioux City and Shaunda (Curtis) Talk of Hamburg; many other nieces and nephews, extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Herbert in infancy; and sister Debbie.
