Franklin Troy Trucks, 79, passed away Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, at Thomas Rest Haven Nursing Home in Coon Rapids, Iowa, after several years of illness.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, at United Methodist Church in Coon Rapids.
The Rev. Lynn Gunderson will officiate the services.
Organist and vocalist will be Lula Garnes. Music selections will be "Peace in the Valley" and "In the Garden."
Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Coon Rapids.
Arrangements are by Johnson and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church in Coon Rapids.
Frank was born July 5, 1934, at Bayard, Iowa. He was the oldest of five children. Frank attended Country School near Coon Rapids and quit school during his senior year due to the loss of his brother (Jerry Russell) from a hunting accident. Franklin served in U.S. Navy in December 1953 and was honorably discharged for medical reasons. Franklin worked as a farmer like his dad and grandfather before him. He also did construction work and was truck driver. Trucking was his passion.
Franklin was a very polite and happy person, loved by his family and all knew him.
Frank is survived by his children: Johnny Lane, Terry Sue, Mickey Dean and James Franklin Trucks; two sisters: Karen (Trucks) Betts of Ursa, Ill., and Martha (Trucks) Hedrick of Titusville, Fla.
Franklin was preceded in death by his mother and father: Lunele Anna (Russell) and Troy Trucks; a son, Ricky Lee Trucks; and two brothers: Richard Thomas and Jerry Russell Trucks.
