Gerald Dial, 88, of Lake City, died Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, at his home.
Funeral services was at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 9, at Lake City Union Church in Lake City with the Rev. Beth Harbaugh officiating. Burial was at Lake City Cemetery with full military honors provided by Lake City American Legion Post 31 and VFW Post 1899.
Lampe Funeral Home in Lake City was in charge of arrangements.

Gerald Dean Dial was born July 27, 1925, at home in Lohrville, Iowa, to Dean and Lydia (Ritter) Dial. After graduating from Lohrville High School, Gerald enlisted in the Army Air Corps continuing a long and proud history of military service from the Dial family, past and present. On June 10, 1945, Gerald married Alice Ann Runquist in Lohrville, and together they celebrated 68 years of marriage. Gerald was a member of Lake City Union Church and Lake City American Legion Post 31.
Gerald is survived by his wife, Alice Ann, of Lake City; children Dwight (Jane) Dial of Lake City, Neil (Paula) Dial of Sacramento, Calif., Scott (Jan) Dial of Stroud, Okla., Todd (Melanie) Dial of Shenandoah, Iowa, and Heidi (John) Lazinski of Hilton Head, S.C.; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brother Barney (Pam) Dial of Lake City; and sisters Arlene Tasler of Omaha, Neb., Rita Dial, June McCaulley and Judy (Jim) Zimmerman all of Lake City.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sons Jerome and Lynn Dial, brothers Merle and Beryl Dial, and sister Velma.
