Born April 26, 1922, at Breda, Iowa, Ione was a daughter of Bernard "Ben" and Rose (Brune) Bruning. Ione attended St. Bernard School in Breda and then work three years at Breda Creamery and also worked for several families in the area, before going to help her grandfather with his farm operation in Minnesota.

On Feb. 9, 1949, Ione married George A. Beyer at the Cathedral of the Epiphany in Sioux City, Iowa. Ione and George lived in several communities while George worked in road construction and then moved to Arcadia for three years before settling in the Carroll community in 1955. This past spring Ione became a resident of Westwood Knolls in Carroll where she had been residing.

Ione enjoyed fishing, motorcycle rides, watching sports on television, watching her grandchildren participate in sporting events, and listening to her granddaughter Katelyn perform. Throughout her lifetime she enjoyed traveling and most recently took a trip to Phoenix, Ariz. She loved music, dancing and took pride that she danced with Lawrence Welk at the Breda American Legion Hall. Ione's greatest joy in life was her entire family.

She was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, Parish Ladies Guild and Legion of Mary.

Ione is survived by her children: Benny Beyer and wife Dixie of Carroll, Randy Beyer of Arcadia, and Jane Renze and husband Tim of Carroll; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; one brother: Larry (Joan) Bruning of Carroll; her brother-in-law and sisters-in-law: Eddie (Doris) Beyer of Phoenix, Ariz., and Alvina Beyer of Sebring, Fla.; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.

Ione was preceded in death by her parents; husband George in 1980; her daughter Pam Hallem Schmitz; two sons: Freddie Beyer, and Clifford Beyer in infancy; her daughter-in-law, Kathy Beyer; one sister, Alma DeBourgh; three brothers: Aaron, Ray, and Merlin "Mike" Bruning.
