J. Thomas "Tom" Williams, 89, passed away on Monday, April 28, at Shady Oaks Care Center in Lake City.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Saturday, May 3, at Lampe Funeral Home in Lake City until the funeral at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Lake City Cemetery with military honors provided by the Lake City American Legion Post 31 and the VFW Post 1899.

Tom was born March 27, 1925, a son of Paul and Jean Williams of Jefferson, Iowa. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1943 and enlisted in the U.S. Army the same year. Tom was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater of War in the U.S. Army Force (2018th Ordinance Maintenance Company). Returning to Iowa after the war, Tom soon met and married a young music teacher, Audrey Perdue and they made their home and raised their family in Lake City. Tom had a career as a sales representative for several companies and retired from Bowie Manufacturing of Lake City in 1985.

He was a member of Lake City Union Church and was active in the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, the Masonic Lodge and the Shriners. He was an enthusiastic participant in various coffee groups in Lake City. Tom always enjoyed the fellowship with others in the organizations he was part of.

Tom is survived by his wife of 63 years, Audrey; daughters Sara Williams of Owensboro, Ky., and Sally (Daryl) Winter of Lake City; son Scott (Juanita) Williams of Iowa City; grandchildren Stacey (Brian) Carlson, Leslie (Fuat) Atkan, Andy (Nicholle) Winter, Jim Williams (Jen), Sam Williams (Jaimie) and Ana Williams (Nick); great-grandchildren Brenna, Teoman, Metehan, Lilly, Denizah and Ellyott; nieces and nephews.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents.
