Jack Winefred Arkland Sr., 76, of Lidderdale, died Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at his home.

Celebration of life reception will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May, 18, at Holy Family Parish Hall in Lidderdale.

Jack Arkland, son of John and Blanche (Newell) Arkland, was born May 30, 1936, in Rockwell City, Iowa. He grew up in Lohrville, Iowa, and attended Lohrville School. On April 9, 1955, Jack married Sally Anita Kaskey in Rockwell City. They had five children and eventually made their home in Lidderdale. He also raised his four granddaughters, who he lovingly called his brown-eyed sweeties.

Jack spent 45 years working at Paul & Wayne's in Carroll. He enjoyed tinkering in his garage and spending time with his family. He was a hard-working man who took great pride being a wonderful husband, dad and grandpa.

Survivors include his four children and their spouses, Jack Jr. and Diana Arkland of Lake City, Joey and Jim Everett of Lake City, Jerry and Jen Arkland of Carroll, and Jeff and Val Arkland of Colorado; 11 grandchildren and their spouses, Karman and Brian Brinkman of Fairmont, Minn., Kasey Irlbeck of Lidderdale, Kendal Drees and Jeff Harkrider of Carroll, Kari Drees of Lidderdale, Courtney Everett of Carroll, Justin Arkland of Lake City, Jason Arkland of Lake City, Jennifer Arkland and Jason Lohrmann of Carroll, Javid Arkland of Carroll, Amber Arkland of Carroll and Alicia Arkland of Colorado; eight great-grandchildren: Austin Thompson, Kally, Karly, and Katy Brinkman, Kyra Irlbeck, Cassie Lohrmann, Klaira Drees and Jazlyn Harkrider.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sally Anita Arkland; a son, Jim Arkland; father, John Arkland; mother, Blanche Arkland; his siblings; mother-in-law, Dorothy Kaskey, and father-in-law, Karl Kaskey.
