James Richard "Jim" Tscherter, 83, of Glidden, died unexpectedly of natural causes Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll.

Final arrangements are being handled by Larson-Weishaar Funeral Home of Manson.

Per his wishes, his body was cremated and will be buried at Clinton-Garfield Cemetery in Rolfe near his parents' graves.

A life celebration event for those who knew and loved him will be planned for later this summer.

Condolences may be forwarded to the family through the funeral home.

Jim was born June 19, 1929 in Fort Dodge, a son of John and Ruth (Cave) Tscherter of Palmer.

He graduated from Pocahontas High School in 1946 at age 16.

He married Lucille Olson on March 31, 1950, at Mission Covenant Church in Pomeroy.

They lived in a number of communities in Nebraska and Iowa, including Avoca, Moville and Manson while raising their two daughters, Sue and Vicki.

They divorced in 1979.

Jim held numerous sales positions during his career. He sold stocks and securities and owned an insurance and real estate office in Moville in the 1960s.

He later was employed selling campers and RV's in the Des Moines area before retiring and wintering in Texas each year.

He had a longtime love for music and dancing and filled his days attending jam sessions, live music events, and searching for bargain treasures.

His evenings were spent enjoying dances. He had a zest for life, a gift for conversation that put strangers at ease, and could find humor in all situations.

He maintained an interest in politics, current events, and following the stock market. He viewed each day as an adventure, always ready for a road trip, and lived life fully and in the moment.
