Burial Mass for Joan A. Pitner was Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church in Omaha, Neb.
Burial was at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Omaha.
Presiding at the services were Father Shane and Father Jim Tigges.
Joan, 76, died Thursday, July 11, 2013.
She was born March 14, 1937, in Carroll, Iowa, and attended St. Francis of Assisi grade school in Maple River. She graduated in 1955 from Kuemper Catholic High School and in 1959 from St. Anthony School of Nursing in Carroll. She married Richard C. Pitner, M.D., on June 18, 1960, and celebrated their golden wedding Anniversary in 2010 at St. Robert Bellarmine Church.
She is survived by her husband and children: Dr. Mark Pitner (Lynne), Dr. Renee Davis (Steve), Dr. Sheryl Pitner (Bob Jackson), Linda Carney (Don), and Scott Pitner (Diane); 14 grandchildren: Dominic Carney, Sean Carney, Mary Jo Carney, Mary Grace Carney, Mary Kate Carney, John Paul Carney, Peter Carney, Michael Pitner, John Pitner, Cole Davis, Graham Davis, Max Schenkelberg (Kayla), Stephanie Peters (Andrew); one great-granddaughter, Ava Schenkelberg; sisters Sr. Mildred Tigges, FSPA, and Kay Simons; and a brother, Leon Tigges.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clem and Leona Tigges; a brother, Edwin Tigges; and a sister, Delores Sullivan.
