Kristy K. Koster, 54, of Ames, Iowa, passed away Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, in Iowa City, Iowa, after a brief illness.

Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, March 1, at St. Mary Catholic Church, in Auburn, Iowa, followed by a memorial Mass at 10:30. A private burial service will be held at a later date. Following Mass will be a luncheon.

Kristy was born in Osage, Iowa, and attended Visitation Grade School in Stacyville, Iowa, and St. Ansgar Senior High School. After high school she attended Iowa State University, graduated in 1982 and began her career in the food-service department at Iowa State University. She became an excellent baker and was the favorite go-to person when special events at Iowa State occurred.

Kristy loved to travel with her family and enjoyed her yearly trips with her sisters across the United States and Europe. She was an excellent caregiver to her father and will be sorely missed by all of her family, who will never forget her infectious smile and caring nature. Kristy was a loving daughter, sister, aunt and friend.

Kristy is survived by her father, Edgar, Nevada, Iowa; four sisters, Karen Cain, Janesville, Wis., Jane Koster, Des Moines, Iowa, Nancy (Michael) Teasdale, Edina, Minn., and Mary (Efren) Vintimilla, Asheville, N.C.; sister-in-law, Teresa Ondracek (Pat); four brothers, Daniel, Boise, Idaho, Dale (Jennifer), Prescott Valley, Ariz., Paul (Carole), Bloomington, Minn., and Craig (Naoise), Eden Prairie, Minn.; along with 17 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Delores; two brothers, Patrick and Mark; and brother-in-law Larry Cain.
