Leland Bruggeman, 91, died Friday, May 17, 2013 at Shady Oaks Care Center in Lake City. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 21, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lidderdale with the Rev. Bill Weiss officiating and burial in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Lidderdale with military honors provided by Lake City VFW Post 1899 and American Legion Post 13.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday with a prayer service at 7 at Lampe Funeral Home in Lake City.

Leland LeRoy Bruggeman was born on April 25, 1922, in Carroll County to John and Emma (Platt) Bruggeman. Leland served in the U.S. Coast Guard from Oct. 26, 1942, until May 11, 1945. He was a member of the Bible Class and Fellowship Club.

On May 29, 1946 Leland married Ida Annetta Mohr at Peace Lutheran Church. Leland and Ida farmed in Carroll County until they retired.

Survivors include his daughters Judy Bald and husband LaVern of Manning and Peggy Williams of Omaha, Neb.; son Leslie of Lake City; grandson Seth Bruggeman and wife Mindy of Fort Collins, Colo.; and great-grandchildren Marcus and Molly Bruggeman.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Ida; brothers Elmer Bruggeman and wife Pearl, Harry Bruggeman and wife Alma, Carl Bruggeman and wife Marie; sister Eleanor Subbert and husband Ervin; brother-in-law John Mohr and wife Ada; sisters-in-law Johanna Frank and husband Herman, and Alma Frank and husband Hiko; and brother-in-law Alvin Mohr and wife Rose.
