Lisa Schmitt Paysen, 39, of Wall Lake, died unexpectedly Thursday April 11, 2013, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll.
Mass of the Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 16, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wall Lake with Father John McGuirk officiating, assisted by Pastor Carl Lee. Burial will be at Wall Lake Cemetery under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home.
Visitation is from 2-8 p.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wall Lake with the family present from 4-8. A vigil service will be held at 8.
Lisa Kay Schmitt was born May 11, 1973, in Storm Lake to George and Sandy (Maher) Schmitt. She attended Wall Lake Community School and graduated with the Class of 1991. While in high school she was active in athletics, 4-H and FFA. She continued her studies at Iowa State University and Des Moines Area Community College in Ankeny.
On March 30, 1996 Lisa married her soul mate, Jason Alan Paysen, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wall Lake. They were blessed with three wonderful children: Riley, Courtney and Jakob. She loved being a mom, attending all of their activities including Courtney's dancing and gymnastics and Riley and Jake's football and basketball games. She coached volleyball, softball and soccer. She enjoyed biking and boating. Lisa also loved going to the races to cheer on Jason and her brother Travis in their younger years and more recently cheering on her brother Brian and nephew Sam. She was always their No. 1 fan. Lisa also enjoyed watching the Hawkeyes play and going to concerts.
She was an active member of the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Wall Lake where she was baptized as a baby, received her first communion, and was later confirmed. She also served on the Monsignor Tolan scholarship committee.
Lisa was manager of the Iowa State Extension office in Sac City, and she was past manager of the Sac County Fair board.
After Riley was born, Lisa opened a day care in their home that she managed for several years. She loved being around kids, was very energetic and outgoing. She loved to laugh and always had a great smile. She lived life to the fullest and was a beautiful person.
Lisa is survived by her husband Jason and children Riley, Courtney and Jake; parents George and Sandy Schmitt of Wall Lake; brother Travis (Teresa) Schmitt and their children, Hannah, Tyler and Katelyn of Lake View, and brother Brian (Brenda) Schmitt and their children, Sam, Carson and Kennedy of Wall Lake; her parents-in-law Bruce and Bert Paysen of Wall Lake; brother-in-law Cory (Ledah) Paysen and their children Lindzey and Ty of Ames; several aunts, uncles, numerous nieces and nephews, extended family members and a countless number of friends.
Lisa was preceded in death by her grandparents, John and Bertha Schmitt and Duane and Shirley Maher.
