Lorraine was born Sept. 30, 1937, a daughter of Anton "Tony" and Bertha (Kraus) Broich. She was the eighth of nine children born to this union. She lived her entire life in Carroll. Lorraine worked as a bookkeeper for many years, then into her retirement as a housekeeper until her decline in health in January 2014. She enjoyed cooking and baking, then sharing her homemade candies, baked goods, and mixes with others in the community. She loved public service and the opportunity it brought to meet and visit with people. Lorraine donated many hours to the local nursing homes. She found much joy in giving to others. This was evidenced by her many friends.
Lorraine was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and found comfort in her strong faith. From her onset of illness in January 2014 until her death she was surrounded and cared for by her family and her close circle of friends.
Lorraine is survived by her children: Randy Kennebeck and his wife Donna of Des Moines, and Roxanne Redling and her husband Kim of Gilbert; grandchildren: Lanette (Juan) Reyes of Des Moines, John Kennebeck and special friend Jessica Vander Linden of Des Moines, and Joe Kennebeck of Des Moines, Matthew (Amanda) Redling of Ankeny, and Anton "Tony" (Haley) Redling of Ames; great-grandchildren: Adrianna Wallace, Isabel Reyes and Lexi Redling; her sisters: Addeline (Bob) Dameron of Walnut Creek, Calif., Irene (George) Koitham of Carroll, Lynette (Al) Lehrter of Carroll, and Elaine (Bob) Fleskes of Annandale, Minn.; her in-laws: Millie Broich of Carroll, Lois Broich of Omaha, Neb., and Leonard Fischer of Carroll.
