Louis Stonerook, 58, of Carnarvon, formerly of Maple River, died Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013, at Loring Hospital in Sac City, Iowa.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, at Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll. Father Timothy Johnson of Holy Spirit Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be at St. Francis Cemetery, Maple River.

Visitation will be from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, at Sharp Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be left at the funeral home and will be directed to local fire departments.

Louis Stonerook was born Dec. 4, 1954, at Council Bluffs, a son of Clarence and Phyllis (Perry) Stonerook. He attended Glenwood High School. After high school he moved to Maple River where he lived for approximately 30 years, and where he married and later separated. He worked at Bauer Built Tires until he went to work for J's Align where he worked for 21 years as service manager. On Feb. 11, 1995, he married Penny Buckendahl at Carroll. The couple resided in Maple River until December 2012 when they moved to Carnarvon. Louis was a member of the National Motorcycle Museum. He will be remembered for his love of his grandchildren, hill climbing, vintage cars and motorcycles, World War II history, and gardening. He will also be remembered for his devoted care to his mother and volunteering his time for Maple River. Louis fought a courageous battle with an illness since 2003.

Survivors include his wife Penny of Carnarvon; his children: Wendy Meischeid of Wall Lake, and Tony (Tara) Stonerook of Wall Lake; his stepchildren: Lisa (Kirk) Niehouse of Marshalltown and Rob (Dawn) Buckendahl of Ames; nine grandchildren; his brothers: Carl (Joyce) Stoneroook of Omaha, Neb., Roy (Marsha) Stonerook of Lincoln, Neb., Leland (Juanita) Stonerook of Big Springs, Texas, Larry Stonerook of Omaha, Neb. and Dennis Stonerook of Pacific Junction.

Louis was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Charles "Bud" Stonerook and Robert Stonerook.
