Marjean Delores Nees, 79, of Carroll, died Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll.

Mass of the Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, July 13, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church with Father Timothy Schott as celebrant. Burial will be at St. John Catholic Cemetery in Arcadia.  Friends may call at Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 3 p.m. Thursday. There will be a rosary at 4 p.m. and  Christian wake service at 7 p.m. The casket will be moved to the church at 8:30 a.m. Friday when visitation will resume.  Lector for the Mass will be Debra Jotham, and gift bearers will be Collin Jotham, Kelly Hoye and Andy Nees. St. Anthony Regional Hospital Auxiliary will form and honor guard at the church.  Casket bearers will be Marjean’s grandchildren Damon Jotham, Collin Jotham, Kelly Hoye, Hannah Nees, Andy Nees and Haley Hoye and Marjean’s sons-in-law Bill Jotham and Jim Hoye.   Organist for the Mass will be Marcy Anderson, cantor will be Jake Gute, and violinist will be Tyler Badding.  Mass servers will be Madison Werden and Megan Wallace, and eucharistic ministers will be Jean Knobbe, Ann Christiansen and  Rosie Obman, Online condolences may be left at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com

Born July 11, 1932, in Carroll, she was a daughter of Ben F. and Elvira V. (Schroeder) Haverkamp. She was married to Elmer Henry Nees on Aug. 16, 1951, at St. John Catholic Church in Arcadia by Father Mathias Stork.  As a young girl she attended St. John School in Arcadia and graduated from St. Joseph Academy in Des Moines.  Marjean and Elmer enjoyed  life on their family farm where they raised their children. She also worked for Crofters Interiors and Design in Carroll for many years and also worked at Community Jewelry Store.  

She enjoyed decorating her home, playing cards, entertaining and having parties for her relatives and many cherished friends. She had great appreciation for fashion and loved her flower gardens.  Marjean was a member of St. Lawrence Parish, the Women’s Guild of the church, and St. Anthony Regional Hospital Auxiliary.

Surviving are her husband Elmer of Carroll; a daughter Debra Jotham and her husband Bill of Bradenton,Fla.; a son Randy Nees and his wife Carol of Ashburn, Va.; a daughter Michelle Hoye and her husband Jim of Rock Rapids; a son Jeff Nees and his wife Diane (Di) of Alexandria, Va.; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister Armella Venteicher of Arcadia.

She was preceded in death by her parents Ben And Elvira Haverkamp, a brother Merton Haverkamp, and a sister Donnabel Bellinghausen.
