Mary Kay Brincks, 69, of Carroll, died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll.

 Mass of the Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 19, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll with Father Timothy Johnson as celebrant. Friends may call at Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 3:30 p.m. Thursday. There will be a Rosary at 4 p.m. and a Christian wake service at 7 p.m. by the parish.  

The casket will be moved to Holy Spirit at 8:30 a.m. Friday when visitation will resume.

Organist will be Barb McDermott, and the Holy Spirit Choir will sing with Kellen Cook as soloist.  Lector will be Lori Ahlers.  Gift bearers will be Colton Brincks, Carter Brincks, Branden Brincks, Kevin Liechti and Jay Liechti.  

Mass servers will be Madison and Megan Brincks.  Eucharistic ministers will be Karen Schultes and Denny Tigges.  Casket bearers will be Mary Kay’s children and their spouses:  Kristy and John Liechti, Eric and Jennifer Brincks and Bryce and Terri Brincks.

Born Sept. 15, 1943, in Carroll, Mary Kay was a daughter of Fred and Matilda (Boes) Thelen.  She grew up on her family’s farm north of Breda and graduated from St. Bernard High School in 1961.  Following high school she worked at St. Anthony Hospital in the cafeteria and various other restaurants including owning MB’s café at Carroll Livestock Sales.  

In 1982, she opened Fashion Crossroads in the Westgate Mall.  She was also actively involved in the operation of B&B Swine with her husband Lefty.  Mary Kay was an accomplished artist and taught private art lessons.  

She loved fishing and spending time at her lake home in Spirit Lake with her family and grandchildren.  Her passion in life was helping others.   Mary Kay was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll where she was active with the church guild.  She was a member of the four Mary’s and Tillies’s Fillies and was always surrounded by her many good friends.   

Mary Kay is survived by a daughter Kristy Liechti and her husband John of Lake View; two sons: Eric Brincks and his wife Jennifer of Glidden, and Bryce Brincks and his wife Terri of Glidden; seven grandchildren: Kevin Liechti, Jay Liechti, Colton Brincks, Megan Brincks, Madison Brincks, Carter Brincks and Branden Brincks; three sisters: Jean Gleason of Louisville, Ky.; Diane Thelen-Mandel and her husband Jerry of San Jose, Calif., and Debra Thelen of Moline, Ill.; five brothers: Howard Thelen and his wife Charlene of Omaha, Neb.; Ron Thelen and his wife Mary of Fredericksburg, Va.; Dale Thelen and his wife Vernelle of Overland Park, Kan.; Mark Thelen of Breda and Gary Thelen and his wife Linda of Circle Pine, Minn..

Mary Kay was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Matilda Thelen, her husband Vernon in 2009, and her mother- and father-in-law Leonard and Marge Brincks.
