Mary Lou McKinney, 77, of Lytton, Iowa, died Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at Park View Rehabilitation Center, Sac City, Iowa.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 4, at Emanuel-St. John Lutheran Church in Lytton, with the Rev. Ron Yarnell officiating.

Burial will be at Emanuel Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Farber & Otteman Funeral Home's new location, 1120 W. Main, Sac City.

Mary Lou was born Dec. 28, 1935, in rural Yetter, Calhoun County, Iowa, to Heiko and Tillie (Schwartz) Everts. She attended country elementary school and graduated from Lytton High School in 1954.

On Oct. 3, 1954, Mary Lou married Glenn Eugene McKinney at Emanuel-St. John Lutheran Church in Lytton. The couple made their home in and near Lytton where Mary Lou was a homemaker. Her life centered on her family and taking care of them. Mary Lou also served as church treasurer for several years and as a cook at Park View Care Center for four years. She will be remembered for her great cooking, and her family will never forget all the wonderful Sunday dinners, along with her loving, kind and caring nature.

Mary Lou is survived by five children: Sheryl Middleton of Manson, Iowa, Carolyn Mohr and husband Jim of Manson, Iowa, Myra Horton and husband Bill of Sac City, Iowa, Roger McKinney and wife Tessie of Lytton, Iowa, and Steven McKinney of Lytton, Iowa; 11 grandchildren: Timothy Mohr, Lisa Duckett and husband Nick, Benjamin Ringgenberg and wife Cathi, Jamie Maulsby and husband Ron, Molly Ringgenberg, Drew Horton, Rae Horton, Shelby McKinney, Brooklin McKinney, Emma McKinney and Sophie McKinney; eight great-grandchildren: Kayla and Erica Birkey, Ally and Ryan Duckett, Derek and Sidney Ringgenberg, and Hallee and Wesly Maulsby; one brother: John H. Everts and wife, Marge of Lytton, Iowa; one sister: Phyllis Leitz and husband Jim of Lake View, Iowa; one sister-in-law: Sylvia Janssen and husband Reinard of Yuma, Colo.; one brother-in-law: Thad Morris of Bellevue, Neb.; and many other relatives and friends.

Mary Lou was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn; her parents; son-in-law, Joe Middleton; sisters-in-law: Thelma Morris, Alice Burmeister and Nancy Heun; and brothers-in-law: Dean McKinney, Don McKinney, Merle McKinney, Richard Heinlen and Elmont "Bud" Heinlen.
