Melvin Arndorfer, 84, of Wesley, Iowa died Friday, August 16, 2013 at his home.

Funeral services were held Wednesday August 21 at St. Benedict Catholic Church in St. Benedict with Rev. Peter Nguyen officiating.

Burial was in St. Benedict Catholic Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the VFW Post #2541 and the Hagg-Turner American Legion Post #90 of Algona. Condolences maybe left at

Born June 10, 1929 in Algona, Iowa, he was a son George and Louise (Nepple) Arndorfer. He was married to Ida Mae Kutschara on May 2, 1959 at St. Benedict Catholic Church. Melvin served in the U.S. Army from 1955-56 in Germany. He worked at Britt Implement for 2 years and then farmed near St. Benedict. He was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, and served as Vice President for Kossuth County ARC, and also served as a committee person for Prairie Township. Melvin also helped with Exceptional Opportunities and St. Benedict projects. He enjoyed fixing and repairing tricycles and bicycles, collecting toy tractors, gardening, helping neighbors with farming after his retirement, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Melvin is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ida Mae; his children, Lori Potter of Dubuque, Kevin Arndorfer and his wife Maria of Algona, and Ann Marie Arndorfer of Burt; seven grandchildren; and two sisters, Ethel Kohlhaas of LuVerne and Rosalyn Fangman and her husband John of Britt.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Loren Arndorfer; and a sister, Roberta Welter.
