Opal Bean, 91, of Lake City, died Monday, March 19, 2012 at her home.
Mass of the Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 23, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lake City with Father Lawrence McCarty officiating.
Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Auburn.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Lampe Funeral Home in Lake City with a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m.
Opal Mae Bean was born May 1, 1920, near Auburn, to Tony and Clara (Clapper) Schulte.
She attended country school near Auburn and married Marvin Dale Bean on June 1, 1938 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Auburn. Opal and Marvin farmed from 1939 until 1980 in the Glidden, Auburn and Lohrville area.
She retired December 1, 1980 and moved to Lake City. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Theresa’s Sodality and the Lake City Country Club. Opal enjoyed playing cards, dancing, gardening and golfing.
Survivors include her sons, Larry and his wife Jackie of Burlington, Colo., and Jerry and his wife Lirva of Steamboat Springs, Colo., five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, and sister, Evelyn Duncan of Rockwell City.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Marvin, and three brothers.
