Patricia "Pat" Rose Moore, 74, of Gretna, Neb., passed away on Friday, March 14, 2014.
The family greeted friends and family on Monday, March 17, at Roeder Funeral Home in Gretna, Neb., and remembered Pat with celebration of life services on Tuesday, March 18, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Gretna. Her inurnment will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 20, at the cemetery in Arcadia, Iowa. Cake reception following at the Zion Lutheran Church.
Pat was born April 29, 1939, to Daniel and Geraldine (Jahde) Rose. She was baptized on May 14, 1939, and confirmed in the Lutheran faith on March 29, 1953, at Zion Lutheran Church by Pastor Theo A. Tews. She lived near Halbur, Iowa, on a family farm for 18 years.
Pat attended country school until fifth grade, then attended Carroll Public School. From grades 8-10 she attended Arcadia Public School, because they sent the bus. She attended Westside High School for one year before the area schools consolidated and became Ar-We-Va Public School. She was a member of the first graduating class from Ar-We-Va High School in 1957.
After high school Patricia attended Commercial Extension Business School in Omaha, Neb. Upon graduating from the medical secretary course she worked at The Visiting Nurse Association Kuker Clinic in Carroll, Iowa. She later worked at Northwestern Bell Telephone Company and the University of Nebraska Medical Center for 16 years.
Patricia married Gale "Gus" Moore Aug. 28, 1960, at Zion Lutheran Church in Arcadia, Iowa. She moved to Gretna, Neb., on Aug. 7, 1968. She was always active at church: Ladies Aid, LWML, funeral chairman at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, charter member of Divine Shepherd Lutheran Church in Omaha and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Gretna. She was also involved in the Jaycees, the Wheeling 8's square dancing club, Starlighters Extension Club, and numerous bridge clubs.
In her spare time, she loved spending time with family, grandchildren and friends, playing cards and watching the Huskers. Pat was well-known for her cooking and enjoyed planning family gatherings. The kids have always said, "Where two or more Roses are gathered together, there will be a party, and Pat will be planning and cooking the food."
She is survived by her husband Gus of Gretna; one son and his wife Steve and Cindy Moore of Gretna; two daughters and their husbands: Sheryl and Fred Gartner of Lincoln; Sheila and Mark Sedlacek of Nehawka, Neb.; grandchildren: Kyle Moore, Mike Gartner, Chris Gartner, Drew Kohlbek, Mallary Kohlbek, Joel Gartner, Sofia Sedlacek and Jennifer Sedlacek; one brother Richard Rose and wife Janet of Westside, Iowa, and their daughters Barb Quandt, Pam (Frank) Wilfing and Lori (Rahn) Eischeid; one sister Marcia Bretey and her husband John of Carroll, Iowa, and sons Jason (Celina) Bretey and Jared ( Rayanna) Bretey; one sister-in-law Mary Jo Moore and her children Patty (Larry) Alexander, Judy (John) Schmidt and Wayne Moore; her extended family Tom and Pat Jahde of Bellwood, Neb., and their children.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents Daniel and Geraldine Rose; Gale's parents Don Moore, Irene Bollinger and her husband Fred; her brother-in-law DeLloyd Moore; and great-nephew Tyler Quandt.
