Paul Snyder, 91 of Carroll, died early Thursday morning, July 18, 2013, at his residence in Carroll.

Mass of the Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 22, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll. Celebrant will be Father Timothy Schott. Music will be by Marcy Anderson and the St. Lawrence choir. Lector will be Paul's granddaughter Lisa Reuter. Gift bearers will be Paul's grandchildren Kim Reuter and Mark Reuter. Eucharistic ministers will be Ann Christiansen and Jean Knobbe. Casket bearers will be Terry Snyder, Mark Werner, Peter Poland, Dennis Lappe, Charles Ertz and Chandler Murillo. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Carroll with military honors conducted by the Carroll American Legion.

Friends may call at Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 2:30 p.m. Sunday. There will be a rosary at 3 p.m. and a Christian wake service at 5 p.m. by St. Lawrence Parish.

The casket will be moved to St. Lawrence Church at 9 a.m. Monday when visitation will resume.

In lieu of flowers memorials may left at the funeral home or church for St. Lawrence Parish.

Paul was born June 6, 1922, to Frank J. and Mary Eva (Rettenmaier) Snyder at Mount Carmel. Paul attended Our Lady of Mount Carmel Grade and High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II with overseas duty in Italy. He was honorably discharged in December 1946.

On June 20, 1949, Paul married Annabelle Werner in Dedham with the Rev. Henry Pick officiating. They made their home in Carroll where Paul was hired by Harold Boje, and later by Cliff Moore as a finish carpenter. Subsequently, he started his own contracting business and built many houses in Carroll and surrounding towns. Paul retired in 1984 and since that time has managed apartments and made wooden items for local specialty shops. His hobbies were woodworking, golf when he was able, and morning coffee groups. He especially enjoyed making furniture for his children and grandchildren. Paul was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church and the Carroll American Legion.

Paul is survived by his wife Annabelle of Carroll; daughter, Susan Reuter and husband Joe of Wichita, Kan., and son, Alan of Omaha, Neb.; grandchildren, Lisa, Kim and Mark Reuter; one sister, Kathleen Snyder of Minneapolis, Minn.; and sisters-in-law, Donna Snyder of Carroll, Alvina Wendl of Omaha, Neb., Dardy Werner of Carroll, and a brother-in-law Jack Longnecker of Carroll; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Herbert, Alfred and John Snyder; and sisters Mildred Klocke, Adeline Tschida, Norma Ertz, Alma Snyder, Dorothy Killeen; and four infant siblings Agnes, Marie, Rose and William.
