Rita Parrott, 95, of Carroll, died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, at Regency Park Nursing Home in Carroll.

Mass of the Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll. The celebrant will be Father Timothy Johnson. Music will be by Barb McDermott and the Holy Spirit choir. Lectors for the Mass will be Ben Parrott and Colin Parrott. Eucharistic minister will be Clete Windschitl. Gift bearers will be Patrick and Mary Parrott. Casket bearers will be Ben Parrott, Colin Parrott, Joshua Eberle, Jonas Eberle, Noah Eberle and Jose Ordarza. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.

Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Spirit Church. Memorials may be left at the church for Holy Spirit Parish.

Born March 7, 1918, at Arcadia, Iowa, Rita was a daughter of Herman and Josephine (Dunck) Olberding. She spent her younger years in the Maple River, Arcadia, and Vail communities and later graduated from St. Bernard High School in Breda. She spent her entire working career with Northwestern Bell in Carroll where she held many job titles. She had strong devotion to her faith and family, and she also enjoyed reading. Rita was a member of the Telephone Pioneers, Holy Spirit Parish and Ladies Guild, and she also volunteered for many organizations while living in the Carroll community.

Rita is survived by her children: Michael Parrott and his wife Cathy of Spokane, Wash., Patrick Parrott and his wife Mary of Spirit Lake, and Mary Jo Eberle and her husband Steve of Arlington, Texas; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Lois Duffy of Carroll; and other extended relatives.

Her parents and her son Edward preceded her in death.
