He was born Feb. 1, 1917, to Albert D. and Bernice (Haag) Fey on the family farm west of Scranton that was purchased in 1880 by his grandfather Albert H. Fey after coming here from Illinois. He attended Scranton Consolidated School and graduated with the Class of 1933. He stayed on the farm after graduation helping his father in raising grain and livestock. On June 8, 1940, he married Elizabeth Eason, who lived with her parents on a farm north of Scranton. They formed a partnership with Bob's father and years later with their son Stephen.

Bob served on the Scranton Farmer's Elevator Co-op board and also on the Scranton Consolidated School Board. He was a member of the former Scranton Friends Church serving as an elder and teaching Sunday school for many years. He was privileged to sing at 120 funerals and several weddings in the area. He also served for a time as song leader at Pleasant Ridge Church south of Glidden.

In later years he and Elizabeth spent part of, and later most of, 28 winters in Arizona. They gained a special appreciation for the state with its warm climate and many hiking trails in the deserts and mountains.

Bob is survived by his wife Elizabeth of Scranton; a son Stephen Fey and his wife Debra of Scranton; three grandchildren: Wendy Riedell and her husband Adam of Nevada, Iowa, Marcus Fey and his wife Kanyapon of Ubon Ratchathani, Thailand, and Loralee Fey of Ames, Iowa; and three great-grandchildren: Ashton, Jakob and Tyler; two nieces: Karol Long of Dallas Center, Iowa, and Donalee MacIlvaine and her husband Chris of Tucson, Ariz.; a sister-in-law Patty Eason of Scranton; two nephews: Perry Eason of Scranton and Phil Eason and his wife Laurie of Kelly, Iowa; a niece Polly Eason of Carroll; and several cousins.
