Robert Hinners, 76, died Saturday afternoon, Dec. 28, 2013, at Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Denison, with Father Paul Kelly as celebrant. Others participating in the Liturgy will include servers: Mackenzie and Austin Freese; lector: Lindy Bohlmann; gift bearers: Tammy and Emily Loughran; and eucharistic ministers: Mary Ann Verbik, Dorothy Leinen and Dan Pfannebecker. Music will be provided by St. Rose of Lima adult choir singing "Amazing Grace," "Just a Closer Walk With Thee," "How Great Thou Art" and "On Eagle's Wings" with Jean Cornelius as accompanist. Honorary casket bearers will be John A. Shields, James Leinen, Orville Bohlmann and Larry Halbur. Casket bearers will be Mike Mueggenberg, Justin Hinners, Bennett Freese, Blaine Bohlmann, Paul Hinners and Todd Hinners. Burial will be at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Cemetery in Denison. Following the graveside rites all are invited to return to the St. Rose Parish Center for fellowship and a luncheon prepared and served by St. Rose of Lima Ladies Guild.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 1, at Pfannebecker Funeral Home,, in Denison. A Legion of Mary rosary will be prayed at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, and a parish vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Robert "Bob" Hinners was born in Carroll on Oct. 26, 1937, a son of Alfred and Hildegaard Grote Hinners. He was raised on the farm at Arcadia and received his education in the Ar-We-Va Schools graduating with the Class of 1957.

On Oct. 25, 1958, Bob married Ione Mueggenberg at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breda. Their union was blessed with four children: Theresa, Joseph, Tammy and Tracey.

They made their home in Denison where Bob was employed at Farmland for 14 1/2 years before beginning his long career with Bohlmann Inc. from which he retired in 2002. Following his retirement, Bob worked as a custodian at St. Rose of Lima Catholic School for four years until his health failed.

In his leisure time Bob enjoyed, fishing, especially ice fishing, camping, gardening, woodworking and carpentry. He took great pride in building his own home and remodeling homes, having remodeled all four of his children's homes. He found his greatest enjoyment in spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will lovingly be remembered by his family as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Denison.

Bob is survived by his wife, Ione Hinners of Denison; daughters: Theresa Schramm and husband Rick of Denison, Tammy Loughran and friend Daryl of Omaha, Neb., and Tracey Reetz and husband Scott of Denison; 11 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; brothers: Wilbur Hinners and wife Pat of Carroll, and Louie Hinners and wife Norma of Arcadia; sister, Marilyn Jeschke and husband Burdell of Carroll; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Hildegaard Hinners; his son, Joseph Robert Hinners, on Jan. 12, 2003; and two brothers: Alfred Hinners Jr. and Eugene Hinners.
