Sharon Kay Staton-Peters, 64, of Lake View, died Friday, May 3, 2013, at her home surrounded by her family.

Funeral was Monday, May 6, at Immanuel Presbyterian Church in Carnarvon, Iowa with Carl Lee, CLP, and the Rev. Donald Gibson officiating.

Burial was at Ferguson Cemetery in Lake View under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home.

Sharon was born June 28, 1948, in Sac City to Leroy and Marjorie (McClintock) Leitz. She was baptized July 1, 1948, at home by Pastor Lily of the Lutheran church. She attended school in Lake View where she received her GED. She continued her education graduating from Des Moines Area Community College in 1990 with her LPN in nursing and received her associate's degree in nursing (RN) in 1996 at Iowa Central Community College.

Sharon married Dennis Peters on July 3, 1987. They made their home in Lake View. Sharon worked at Black Hawk Life Care Center and St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll. Sharon retired from nursing in August 2012.

She had a deep passion for helping others, as was her nature as a nurse. She enjoyed caring for her home and had a gift in home decorating. She also enjoyed her flower garden, shopping, reading and morning coffee on the deck. Spending time with her family brought her great joy.

Survivors include her husband, Dennis Peters of Lake View; son Seth Peters of Des Moines; parents: Leroy and Marjorie Leitz of Lake View; sisters: Barbara Smith, Pamela Leitz and Teresa Drilling, all of Lake View; extended family members and many friends.

Sharon was preceded in death by her grandparents: Frank and Nellie Leitz and Roy and Hazel McClintock; son Robbie Staton; brother Michael Leitz; and niece Erica Millard.
