Verna E. Perry, 85, of Sac City, Iowa, died Thursday, May 16, 2013, at Israel Hospice House in Ames, Iowa.

Memorial service was Monday, May 20, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sac City with the Rev. Don Pobanz officiating. Burial was at Luckow Cemetery in rural Auburn, Iowa. Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City was in charge of arrangements.

Verna was born Jan. 1, 1928, to Elmer and Lizzie (Schmidt) Mohr in Ulmer, Iowa. She grew up around Ulmer and graduated from Auburn High School in 1946. Following graduation she worked at a dress shop in Carroll.

On Dec. 21, 1959, Verna married Robert Perry at the Lutheran Church in Auburn. This union was blessed with three children: Alan, Kay and Lisa. They lived on a farm near Auburn before moving to Fairfield, Iowa. They opened a jewelry store in Winfield, Iowa. In 2009 Verna moved back to the area to be near her family. She had lived with Alan the last 20 years. Verna loved spending time with her family, caring for her home, gardening and canning.

Survivors include her son Alan Perry of Sac City; daughters: Kay (Lee Smith) Perry of Lyndon, Kan., and Lisa (Jake) Winker of Glidden; brother Marvin (Ruth) Mohr of Ord, Neb.; sisters-in-law: Marge Mohr of Odebolt and Ruth Mohr of Sac City; many nieces and nephews and extended family members.

Verna was preceded in death by her parents; husband Robert; brothers: Wilbert Mohr, Hubert "Bing" Mohr and Wayne "Whimp" Mohr; and sister Edna Buse.
