Coon Rapids-Bayard Community School District on Monday dedicated its new pre-kindergarten through second-grade elementary building addition.

The addition is part of the existing high school, middle school and upper-elementary school building in Coon Rapids.

It’s the first time all grades in the district will be under one roof.

Superintendent Rich Stoffers said the building is more efficient for the district and should save the school between $50,000 and $60,000 on heating, electric and transportation costs every year.

Stoffers welcomed about 40 guests who attended the dedication.

He thanked the district’s school board, the Design Architect, Planning and Project Management Team: Facilities Cost Management Group LLC; Technical Services Consultant: Purdy & Slack Architects and contractors including Badding construction, Drees Heating and Plumbing and Venteicher Electric.

The school is ordering a plaque with the dedication statement, “This building is dedicated to the youth of our District for this and future generations to inspire their learning and to those who teach, and to welcome their activities as a vital part of our communities. May their success serve as thanks through the years to those who so generously gave of their leadership, time and resources through the planning and construction of these facilities for learning.”
