Area residents will have a chance to talk with state and local Republican candidates for office during a forum and meet-and-greet scheduled for Monday.

The Carroll County GOP event will be held beginning at 7 p.m. at Santa Maria Winery & Vineyard in Carroll.

"Each candidate will offer an introduction and several topics will be discussed," said Bill Fish, a Republican organizer and local tea party activist. "You will have the opportunity to ask questions directly to the candidates. This promises to be a great evening full of information."

Fish said U.S. Senate candidates Scott Schaben of Ames, a Kuemper Catholic High School alum, Sam Clovis of Hinton and Matt Whitaker of Clive are confirmed for attendance.

Two other candidates for that offices, state Sen. Joni Ernst of Red Oak and Mark Jacobs of West Des Moines, have been invited but have not confirmed, Fish said.

Carroll businessman Brian Best, a Glidden resident, the lone GOP candidate for the House district that includes Carroll County, will be at the event as well.
