Chamber schedules city candidate forum Oct. 9
October 2, 2013
The Carroll Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a city candidate forum at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, at the Carroll Recreation Center auditorium.
The purpose is not to endorse candidates but to give the candidates an opportunity to present their opinions on the issues to citizens.
The forum is open to the public and will be broadcast live on radio station KCIM 1380 AM.
All candidates will give comments. Candidates will answer questions submitted prior to the forum, questions from the audience in attendance, or by calling 712-830-5623 beginning at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Individuals who wish to submit questions before the forum may do so by either mailing or delivering written questions to the Carroll Chamber of Commerce Office at 407 W. 5th St., P.O. Box 307, Carroll, Iowa 51401, or you may email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Three candidates - Kyle Fesenmeyer, Jerry Fleshner and Amber Raak - are seeking the at-large seat being vacated by Councilman Jeff Scharfenkamp.
Mayor Adam Schweers and Ward 1 Councilman Michael Kots are running unopposed on the ballot.
In Ward 3, Clay Haley and Dan Longnecker are the ballot, but Longnecker said he plans to withdraw from the race in a statement at the forum.
