Olsen's Outdoor brings mix of inventory to new Carroll store
March 12, 2014
Olsen's Outdoor Power of Atlantic will add a second location in Carroll with an opening scheduled for July.
Work already has begun on the new site located on U.S. Highway 30, opposite of Quandt Auto Salvage, company officials said this morning.
Olsen's Outdoor Power will bring a mix of outdoor power, power sports and trailers to the Carroll area with off-road vehicles by Polaris, lawn and garden equipment from Exmark, Husqvarna, and Echo, and cattle trailers from Wilson.
In addition to these industry-leading brands, the Carroll location will also offer customers the top-notch level of service for which the Atlantic facility is known.
"We understand the importance of keeping our customers' equipment working for them and support that ideal with quick turnaround times in the shop and swift delivery of parts when needed," said Tyler Nelson, who will manage the Carroll store.
Hiring for the new Carroll location will start soon and will be comprised of sales, parts and service positions.
Olsen's Car Care Corner was started in 1985 by owners Jim and Tad Olsen at its current location in Atlantic as a small towing and automotive-repair shop.
Soon afterwards, Olsen's entered the lawn and garden industry carrying equipment for homeowners, land owners, and commercial landscapers by Dixie Chopper.
In 2003, the business entered into the powersports market with the addition of Minnesota-based powersports company Polaris. Very quickly, the success of Polaris warranted an expansion of the building so just a year later Olsen's added a 7,500-square-foot show room to the west side of the dealership and the name was changed to Olsen's Outdoor Power.
"Within a few short years we would go on to be the largest Polaris dealer in Iowa," said Nelson, a 10-year veteran of Olsen's in Atlantic.
In 2007 the business entered the pre-owned automotive business and now has one of the largest inventories of quality pre-owned vehicles in southwest Iowa. In addition to Polaris, the Atlantic location also carries Arctic Cat, Can Am, Ski Doo, Sea Doo, Exmark, Dixie Chopper, Cub Cadet, Stihl and Wilson cattle trailers.
Olsen's plans to employ five to six people in Carroll to start. But Nelson said the jobs figure may increase as the Atlantic store has a dozen employees.
"We're excited about coming up that way," said Nelson.
