If your family loves pizza, they will love Pizza Stuffed Shells. The next time you are in the mood for pizza, try a different twist on an old classic.

Pizza Stuffed Shells

If your family loves pizza, Pizza Stuffed Shells will surely hit the spot. Fill each jumbo shell with Italian sausage and ground beef, plus mini pepperoni, onion, and green pepper. Then smother each shell with pizza sauce and gobs of gooey Mozzarella cheese.


1/2 lb Italian sausage

1/4 lb ground beef

1 garlic clove, minced (I used 1 teaspoon of jarred minced garlic)

1/2 white onion (or 1 small onion), finely diced

1 green pepper, diced

1/2 cup mini pepperoni

1 scant tablespoon Italian seasoning

1 cup pizza sauce

1/2 cup mozzarella cheese


20 jumbo pasta shells

1 cup pizza sauce

1 1/2 cups mozzarella cheese

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cook shells to al dente stage according to box directions. Drain and rinse under cold water. Set aside.

In a large skillet, brown Italian sausage, ground beef, onion, green pepper, and garlic until no pink remains. Drain off any fat. Return to skillet.

Add pepperoni, Italian seasoning and 1 cup of pizza sauce to skillet and cook for about 2-3 minutes over medium heat. Remove from heat and stir in 1/2 cup of mozzarella cheese.

Fill each shell with the meat/veggie mixture (approximately 2 tablespoons) and place in a baking dish.

Top each shell with a spoonful of pizza sauce then sprinkle remaining mozzarella cheese over stuffed shells. Cover with foil and bake 20-25 minutes or until heated through and cheese is melted.


If you have leftover meat/veggie mixture, pour it over the top of the shells before adding the rest of the cheese.

These shells can be assembled and then frozen. Do not add additional pizza sauce or cheese before freezing.
