U.S. Rep. Steve King, R-Kiron, is scheduled to speak at an Americans for Prosperity event in Carroll on Wednesday morning aimed at challenging Waterloo Congressman and U.S. Senate candidate Bruce Braley's positions on a host of federal issues.

The event is set for 10 a.m. at the Santa Maria Restaurant, Vineyard and Winery, 218 W. Sixth St.

In a news release, Americans for Prosperity, a non-profit organization, says Braley continues to support federal health-care reform widely known as Obamacare, "which is confusing and costly for doctors and patients alike." The group will challenge Braley's support of cap-and-trade legislation and positioning on the Keystone XL Pipeline.

Americans for Prosperity, which has launched major advertising campaign criticizing Obamacare, does not endorse or oppose political candidates. AFP educates Iowans on the positions of elected officials and puts grassroots pressure on politicians, regardless of their party, to adopt policies that grow the economy, shrink government, and enhance economic freedom.

The Carroll event is open to the public.
