It was the only option the Titans had, and it turned out to be a good one.

South Central Cahloun's boys' track team, which had only ran in one other outdoor meet this season, needed another meet to try and qualify events for the Drake Relays. So, they headed south and ran at the Martensdale St. Mary's meet on Thursday. The last-minute change of schedule proved to be a good decision.

South Central Calhoun finished third in the meet with 101 total points. Along the way the Titans picked up five event wins.

"This was an added meet and just plain gave us an opportunity to run," said Bryan Case, the head coach for the South Central Calhoun boys' track team. "This was only our second outdoor meet of the year, so we are still a raw team and a work in progress. We're just thankful to get back on the track.

"With that being said, this was also the last day that we could qualify events for the Drake Relays, so that was our mind-set going in. We really didn't set up the meet to try and win it, but regardless...our team preformed very well. I'm so proud of this team and the way they've handled the adversity with the weather. They come to work everyday, and in the end... their attitude and efforts will pay off."

The efforts started to pay off immediately in Thursday's meet.

Colton Bahr, the senior high jumper for the Titans, ended up as the champion, after clearing 6-feet-2-inches. Teammate Cole Corey finished fourth after clearing the bar at 5-feet-10-inches.

The meet started off well for the Titans as the distance medley relay team of Nic Englin, Tanner Macke, Chase McAlister and Spencer Moon had the fastest time of 3:38.89.

Later the 4x200 team of Josh Henkenius, Jared Birks, Englin and Macke won that event with a time of 1:34.12.

McAlister continued the winning streak as he turned in the fastest 800 meter run time of 2:02.16.

The last win for the Titans came in the 4x400 event when the team of Henkenius, Birks, McAlister and Spencer Moon turned in a time of 3:36.16 to win the event.
