Ila Mae was born Sept. 20, 1928, on the family farm in Breda, to Henry and Louisa (Grueterman) Wegman.

She grew up outside of Breda and graduated from Breda High School.

Shortly after graduating, Ila Mae enrolled into nursing school in St. Louis.

After receiving her nursing degree, she returned to Carroll and it was in Carroll she met her future husband, Anthony.

She was united in marriage to Anthony Pivonka on Sept. 26, 1953, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll, and together they became the proud parents of five children, Richard, Joseph, Gene, James and Mary.

Following their marriage, they lived in Carroll and Rockwell City, before making their home in Dexter, in 1955.

Her early years were spent raising her family and later was employed at the Earlham Care Center, for several years before retiring.

She was an active member at the All Saints Catholic Church and through the church was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society.  Ila Mae enjoyed cooking and was also known for her delicious pies and pastries. She also enjoyed family genealogy, sewing, watching her children in their sporting events, gardening and canning, polka and square dancing, but most of all she enjoyed spending quality time with her family and friends.

Ila Mae leaves behind to cherish her memory, her beloved husband, Anthony, of Dexter; children, Richard (Debra) Pivonka of Sachse, Texas, Joseph (Deborah) Pivonka of Redfield, Gene Pivonka and James Pivonka both of Dexter, and Mary (Donald) Fillman of Dexter; grandchildren, Sarah (Michael) Hawbaker of Redfield, Shelley (Remi) Morrison of Adel, Joshua Pivonka of Waukee, Kelsey, Allison and Scott Fillman and Presley Pivonka all of Dexter; great grandchildren, Alexander, Madelynn, Samantha Morrison and Elizabeth Hawbaker; sister, Dorothy (Robert) Sapp of Carroll and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents Henry and Louisa Wegman, and siblings, Marcella, Leona, Walter, Lawrence, Helen, and Mary Ann Wegman.
