William A. Hill, 89, of Olathe, Kan., died Thursday, June 20, 2013, from natural causes.
Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 25, at Ewing-Schutte-Semler Funeral Home, 701 S. Osage Ave., Sedalia, Mo. Rev. Jeremy Freeman, of St. Paul Lutheran Church will be officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, 3306 Greenridge Road, Sedalia, at 2:30 p.m.
Bill was born in Sedalia on March 1, 1924. He attended Hughesville (Mo.) High School. Bill was a sergeant in the 777th anti-aircraft Automatic Weapons Battalion serving in many campaigns in World War II from 1943 to 1945.
Bill married Lola Rieck on Nov. 7, 1945. They were married for nearly 50 years, until Lola died in 1995. He married Beverly Davis on Aug. 3, 1996. They were married 10 years until Beverly died in 2006.
Bill was vice president of maintenance for Crouse Cartage Company of Carroll for 25 years. Bill enjoyed camping, grilling and traveling. Bill and Lola were founding members of Bell's and Beau's square dancing club in Omaha, Neb. Bill was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sedalia.
Bill is survived by his sister Mary Trusty of Fayette, Mo.; daughters Dianne (Hill) and her husband Ron Hulsebus of Sun Valley Lake, and Donna (Hill) Barger of Salem, Va.; son Wayne Hill and his wife, Joan, of Olathe; stepsons Roy Arnett and his wife, Mary, of Houstonia, Mo., and Ray Arnett of Sedalia, Mo.; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.
Bill was preceded in death by brothers Thomas and Kenneth Hill, sister Ardella Hejtmanek and son-in-law Vernie Barger.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association in care of the funeral home.
