A legendary surprise

  • 0

Katie Dozler was surprised with Hy-Vee's Legendary Customer Service award in August of last year, and now, it was her turn her turn to surprise her mother, Copee Wells, with the image of her daughter’s face on a massive truck.

Dozens gathered at St. Anthony Nursing Home Friday to surprise Wells, who will celebrate her 90th birthday next week.

“Surprise, surprise,” Wells joked Friday, adding she’d suspected something was afoot.

She told Dozler upon first seeing the truck that she looked as though she was in a toothpaste commercial.

As of last year, when Dozler, a 38-year employee of Hy-Vee, received the award, she was one of only 110 people in all of Hy-Vee’s stores who’d received the recognition since the award was instituted in 2006.
